Another good place to get videos on this topic is "PBS Evolution". They have a series of 7 videos that break down the topics of evolution. I didn't show all 7 videos to my 7th grade class, but I did show the last video about the topic being controversial. Above all else, when introducing this topic please tell the students to go home and talk with their parents/guardians about their beliefs. If you do this prior you will have more open conversations in class and not stepping on family's beliefs.
It is hard to find a video that stands the middle ground of evolution. This IS a concepts that has to be taught in Virginia schools, so I try to stay with evolution in regards to animals and not humans. This video talks about Darwin and natural selection and also hits on other vocabulary that will be on the SOL tests. If you find another middle of the ground video please post here.

Students usually have a hard time distinguishing between the genotype and phenotype. This video gives great examples to help students remember those differences.

This is an informative video to show students when introducing the process of Meiosis.

This video shows students the genetic differences/similarities between them and their fellow humans.

The students have to know about Mendel and his important discoveries in the world of genetics that afforded him the title of 'Father of Genetics'.
A short and hopefully correct explanation of Gregor Mendel and his contribution to the study of Genetics.

This is a great rap video which hits on all the vocabulary for Life Science genetics unit. This one would be good to put on an iTouch for students to pause to look at the pictures and read some of the cartoons.
Rap video about genetics.

This is a great video when introducing genes and genetics. I was able to refer back to this video many times in future lessons. There are more parts to this series in YouTube. The rest are great too!
